Sleeping Bear Point

    Just a few miles west of the town of Glen Arbor lies Sleeping Bear Point with popular its beaches, trails and historical sites. With a four wheel drive vehicle and a little extra hiking, this part of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a beautiful winter exploration destination!

    Sleeping Bear Point Trail offers a Dune Loop Trail as well as an out and back spur to Lake Michigan.

    For beautiful breathtaking Lake Michigan vistas and some hilly dune hiking head west for the Dune Loop Trail and Lake Michigan spur.

    Manitou Islands to the north

    A gently rolling, wooded trail leaves the Sleeping Bear Point trailhead parking area to the south and curves west to Lake Michigan as part of the Dune Loop Trail.

    Learn some Coast Guard and Great Lakes shipping history with a stop at the National Park Service  museum and other historical buildings at Sleeping Bear Point.
